One of the pioneering plants in our permaculture orchard since 2007 here at the farm, Seaberry, aka Sea Buckthorn, aka Hippophae Rhamnoides, is rich in so many beneficial elements. The wood, used here in our smoked salt, contains seratonin in its bark along with vanillin, which is responsible for the vanilla flavoring we all know and love. How do these elements find their way into this smoked salt? We don’t know. But it is a delicious salt. Rich, smooth, with a slight twinge of fruitiness. This is a true permaculture salt! Seaberry shrubs fix nitrogen in the soil, produce a super-fruit, and produce leaves that make one of the best herbal teas around, with the soft tannin flavors of a mild black tea. Enjoy this special smoked salt. It’s a winner!!

This is “Real” brand salt, which is a mined ancient seabed mineral salt from Utah. No ocean microplastics! Ground to a ‘kosher’ salt consistency, which is perfect for this application.

The envelope is compostable, and we recommend you put your smoked salt into a sealed jar. Oxygen causes loss of smoke flavor over time.
