We harvested mulberry wood from our orchard and dried it for 3 years (it takes that long!) to bring you this salt. It has a delightful, fruity and rich flavor that pairs well with most foods.

Did you know that mulberry wood is traditionally used in one of 7-8 sequential wood barrels in the aging of authentic balsamic vinegar?

This cold-smoked salt captures a rich and fruity essence of mulberry in a storable flavor package, adding a unique accent to dishes.

This smoked salt can be used in small amounts to create a primal essence in plant-based foods—deepening flavors, touching that part of our human DNA linked to fire. Mulberry smoked salt is compatible with most all foods, as it is bright and mild.

A perfect addition to bean dishes, soups, dashi, pulled jackfruit, dressings or any other sauteed vegetable to which you might wish to add a ‘fire-grilled’ flavor. We use Real Salt—a mined mineral sea salt from the USA, ground to kosher consistency. Most people smoke coarser salts, but then they need to be ground, and much of the smokiness is lost. This is the perfect size grain to smoke, as it retains a higher surface area of smokiness and can be directly used on foods.

We chose Real Salt to smoke, because there is no danger of pollutants in this mined mineral salt from Utah.

Store your salt in an airtight container, as the smoke aromas will eventually dissipate with exposure to oxygen. We package salt minimally to avoid the higher costs of shipping these products to you. Envelope is compostable.
